The hook line, or chorus idea, came from the school playground!
Schoolchildren sing “Liar! Liar! Pants on Fire!”. The song lyric “Fire! Fire! Planet’s on Fire!” mirrors this catchy phrase.
It’s a way of capturing young people’s attention when explaining the importance of climate change. It will also be remembered by adults from their schooldays so an opportunity exists to sing a song with the youngsters! But don’t tell the children!
Nanaho, my 10-year-old granddaughter, heard me at work on the song and began humming it to herself and then singing the chorus out loud. Her voice sounded just perfect so I asked her to have a go at singing at the microphone. I know I’m biased, but I thought she did it brilliantly. My plan is to get some of her school friends to join in on the chorus.
